In short, cabinet refacing is the process of replacing or laminating all of the visible surfaces of your kitchen cabinets, so that they look new, but for about half the price of replacing your cabinets.
How Does Cabinet Refacing Work?
The first stage is the removal of all cabinet doors and all drawers. Then all of the visible parts of the cabinet boxes are covered with a thin layer of real-wood laminate. Once bonded to the cabinet surfaces, these laminates are extremely secure and durable.
The second stage is the replacement of all of the cabinet doors and drawer fronts. Usually, when the cabinet doors are replaced the hinge hardware is also upgraded.
Part of the cabinet refacing process also involves staining the laminates, drawer fronts and cabinet doors to the same color and finish. Once it is completed, the cabinets truly look new!
